Winners announced [03/04/2012]
We are delighted to announce that Antony Williams has been awarded the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2012 for his painting Still life with electric fan. The Prize money of £15,000 and an engraved gold medal were presented by selector Ken Howard RA. The Young Artist Award of £2,500 was awarded to Naomi Grant for Self Portrait. Runner-Up Prizes of £1,500 were also presented to Peter Brown for The Udaipur Sunset Painting; Peter Clossick for Lyds; Christopher Green for The Shard from King William Street; Rachel Ross for Silver Spoons; and Melissa Scott-Miller for Islington back gardens – Autumn. For information about the exhibition please click HEREAbstract critical is delighted to announce that Zara Idelson has been awarded the £5000 abstract critical Newcomer Award 2012. The award was presented to her by John Pluthero, Chairman of Cable & Wireless Worldwide, collector of abstract art and co-founder of abstract critical. This is the inaugural year of the prize which offers five talented graduate artists from the 2011 degree shows an opportunity to exhibit alongside the established artists who selected them. Phillip Allen, Carol Robertson, Iain Robertson, Alan Shipway and Gary Wragg
toured shows nationwide to select their chosen graduate. Work by newcomers Zara Idelson, Katy Kirbach, Dan Roach, Jack Sutherland and Gwennan Thomas will be on display alongside those of their selectors at Kings Place Gallery in London until 20 April.
